In module 1, the trainees will learn the core components of tour guiding job with basic knowledge of his/her local travel attractions. This is a 12 days’ course excluding course opening and closing, tea breaks or any other unscheduled activities in class. This program is designed for a maximum of 20 trainees.
Target Audience
The following target beneficiaries should attend this course:
- New entrants.
- Existing local tour guides in Sughd Region.
- Local guides in other tourism destinations in Tajikistan.
Scholarship
15 trainees will be granted scholarship by organizers that covers total training fee.
Criteria:
- Good command of English.
- Motivation.
- Interpersonal skills.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this module, trainees will:
- Understand the core components of tour guiding;
- Know his/her tourist destination, focusing on historical and cultural attractions, local ethnic groups, traditions, and lifestyles, and available tourism services;
- Get acquainted with other hospitality services in the travel industry;
- Deliver local tour guiding services to tourists at some sites.

Day 3 - Feb 5: Session 2 - Communication and presentation skills
Day 4 - Feb 7: Session 3 - Tour guiding: processes and skills
Day 5 - Feb 8: Session 4 - Tour guiding: safety, health, and hazard awareness
Day 6 - Feb 10: Seminar - Fieldwork
Day 7 - Feb 11: Session 5 - Leading cultural tours
Day 8 - Feb 13: Seminar - Jeep and bus tour guiding
Day 9 - Feb 14: Session 6 - Leading historical tours
Day 10 - Feb 16: Seminar - Guiding at historical and archeological sites
Day 11 - Feb 17: Session 7 - Core competencies for adventure tour guiding
Day 12 - Feb 19: Seminar - Trekking guiding
